History
Llucmajor is one of the oldest settled areas in Mallorca, with roots dating back to Talayotic (prehistoric) times. Its most significant historic moment came in 1349, when it was the site of the Battle of Llucmajor, in which King James III of Mallorca was defeated and killed by the Crown of Aragon an event that ended Mallorca’s brief period as an independent kingdom.

Restaurants and shops
Llucmajor has a welcoming mix of traditional eateries and small local shops. Café Colón, right on the main square, is a classic spot for tapas or a relaxed coffee while watching village life. For something more food-focused, Bistro Mercat serves fresh Mediterranean dishes in a cozy, modern setting. If you prefer seafood, Casa do Pulpo is well-known for its octopus and simple, hearty plates.

square
Llucmajor’s main square, Plaça d’Espanya, is the lively heart of the town. It’s a wide, open space lined with cafés and shaded terraces, making it a natural meeting point for locals. On market days the square fills with stalls selling fresh produce, flowers, and local goods, creating a warm, bustling atmosphere. Whether you stop for a morning coffee or an evening drink, the square is one of the best places to soak up the everyday rhythm of Llucmajor.
